- Angel Beats! Interview with Maeda Jun, Second Season??
We said our good byes as I walked out the door. Still thinking about the 'visions' I had, I walked down the main pathway to the station straight ahead. At the moment my life wasn't too interesting apart from the 'visions'. Having no school made things boring, but if I get this part time job things are hopefully bound to change. I didn't have so many friends like everyone else.
I have about one friend and that's it. We have some kind of connection, it's strange really. The visions I was talking about before, she has them as well. Her name is Iwasawa Masami. I've known her for a long time now, since our childhood days. Masami is a person who is usually an introvert around strangers, she isn't shy but she doesn't like to talk to people she doesn't know very well. Ever since I was growing up, her parents would fight and so she would end up staying over at my place, where my parents would take care of her.
But since my parents passed away, she hadn't been able to stay over. Also now that I've dropped out of school, I probably won't see her very much anymore. Especially because she has band practice. Masami was always confused about what she wanted to do in life. But after listening to music, she found something she loved to do - sing and make music. I was proud of her. My plans for today were firstly, the job interview, then go home to Hatsune, then go see Masami's band practice.
Usually I'd be nervous about something like this, but for some reason today was a calm day, there was something special about it, like something Iwasawa Masami's POV Today was a perfect day for a street performance, not too cold, not too hot, it was just right. I walked out of the cafeteria after having my breakfast. That's right, my parents were fighting again so instead of having breakfast at home, I went out to eat it.
As usual, I brought my guitar with me.
I didn't really do street performances for money, it was more for getting better and getting used to performing in front of crowds, although the crowds that watched me were quite small. Yuzuru promised me that he'd be at my band practice tonight. I hope he shows up, because I haven't seen him for about two weeks now. I told him I'd support whatever decision he had to make but I didn't think he'd drop out of school.
Besides him, the only people I talk to now are my band members, but I'm not nearly as close to them as I am to him. My parents were fighting more than ever so I can't have them coming over my house. To be honest, I am hoping they separate soon so the drama can finally end.
Although it doesn't sound too nice coming from their daughter, I had to deal with this for far too long. But music has recently been my way of escape and form of expression of my emotions and stress, so I've been trying to sing as much as I can. I headed down to the busiest area in the town on a bus so I could perform on the streets. My dream to be a singer existed for about two years now, but for some peculiar reason it feels like I've wanted to do singing for all my life.
I looked out the window of the bus to see many street dancers, singers and instrument players. My guess was that they all had a similar dream to mine.
It was like that in this place, many people had sad lives and regrets, wishing that could live it all over again. I had no regrets, I was risking all my time and my education for this. Twenty minutes later I arrived and went to my favourite place in the city-next to a popular bakery.
The bread smelt crisp and fresh, which made the scent around the bakery a nice place to play my guitar. Also many people that were coming out of the store would see my performance and maybe stay around to watch.
I was planning to play, 'My Song' a song that I was writing up for ages these past few weeks, it was quite short, cause it was only a preview, but it would do for now.
I had put a lot of thought into. The strum of my guitar started. I closed my eyes and started to sing.
I opened my eyes. A few people stopped and listened. Actually this was probably the most people I'd ever had watching me on a street performance.
I smiled and continued to sing. At this period, she experiences being put into a detention facility with Otonashi due to the latter insisting to treat her for lunch despite the time constraints. Meanwhile, Otonashi hears news of his friends confronting Naoi and turns to Kanade to help him escape. After she and Otonashi break out from the detention facility, she goes to help Otonashi in saving the SSS from Naoi's plan to get rid of them.
Reaching Out Edit In an attempt to become friends with her, Otonashi invites Kanade to fish with him and the other SSS members, despite the others' rejections.

She agrees, and eventually, she becomes a big help to the group, taking down the biggest and most-feared fish in the river; she also stays to assist the SSS in sharing the catch with the rest of the school. During this time, Otonashi tells her they are friends and requests to address her by her first name, and that she will do the same for him, in return.
Although she does not seem to be particularly appreciative of Otonashi's efforts due to her emotionless demeanor, she does agree to become friends with him and allow him to call her by her first name, Kanade. Kanade faces off against one of her clones.
Soon, she is compelled to face a foe who shares the same powers and form as herself, which causes them both to kill each other. In later events, they discover that it is one of Kanade's clones who developed an independent conscience after being summoned. Kanade is then captured by another of the clones and was contained in Guild's lowermost underground ruins.
The SSS, led by Yuri and Otonashi, push through to rescue her from the clones, which unattended would be a bigger threat than Kanade herself, and they succeeded in saving her, though most of the battlefront is lost in the process and she is forced to fight a more difficult battle: Misunderstandings and a Plot Edit After a long time unconscious in the infirmary, Kanade manages to wake up from the ordeal victorious.
She then explains to Otonashi who by sleeping on Kanade's chest, regained all of his memories, that her fighting with the SSS has been a very large misunderstanding. Kanade is later seen resuming her position as the Student Council President and the SSS members have to retake their exams for tampering with her test paper.
She continues helping people in the afterlife pass on, but this time, with the assistance of Otonashi as her ally and companion. She acts as the primary defense of the newly-formed alliance as the SSS gathers the remaining members to assist. Kanade single-handedly fights the shadows. They managed to rescue Yuri, and brought her over to the Second Computer Room, where the culprit behind the Shadows appearing was located. After the fight, Yuri was left unconscious for three days, during this time Kanade and Otonashi worked together to prepare a surprise for Yuri.
Since most of the SSS members already have moved on, Kanade, Otonashi, Naoi, Hinata and Yuri are the only ones left to experience the graduation ceremony.
Naoi, Yuri and Hinata soon move on and disappeared, leaving Otonashi and Kanade. Otonashi then invites her to walk outside with him saying that he wants to feel the wind on his face. While outside Otonashi confesses to her that he loves her and he finds out that Kanade has his heart, which he donated in his final moments.
Kanade soon reveals that the true reason that she was in the afterlife was because she was looking to thank the person who had given her the gift of life through the heart; as it turns out, it was Otonashi's heart beating in Kanade's chest at the last moments of her life.
After thanking him for giving her an extended life, she disappears leaving Otonashi in tears and despair. A Fated Meeting Edit A fated meeting in the real world Sometime later in the world of the living, a girl that resembles Kanade, with shorter cut hair and a hat, is humming while waiting on the streets.
A passing boy that resembles Otonashi recognizes the tune she is humming as Iwasawa's last song, "My Song" Most likely subconsciously. He turns in recognition of either the song or her. In the scene, the girl checks the time on her phone and then proceeds to walk in the opposite direction of the boy after he passes by, but he then chases after her to tap her on the shoulder in order to get her to stop and turn round so they can meet. The scene fades to white just before the boy makes contact with the girl.
With promotional posters found in many of the streets as well as their music videos on the most popular music channels, it is expected for the stadium to be filled up to at least 70 percent or maybe even more, making it the largest crowd they will ever perform in front of. This will be the biggest concert we ever performed in. How do you think the rest of us feel performing in front of tens of thousands of people that are going to show up? Hatsune looks up towards Otonashi. I had special seats reserved in the stadium for both you and me to watch and to meet them backstage between songs and after the concert is over.
Is that really you? I really missed all of you since I passed on myself. When I heard that you are scheduled to perform in Tokyo, I immediately rushed to get tickets in hopes of seeing you, but that is no longer the case since you are all here now.
By the way, did you manage to bump into other former members of the SSS since returning back? I heard TK, Fujimaki, and Oyama are also coming to the stadium to watch the concert and the game.
I actually thought that all of your regrets have passed and moved on like the others. We had no contact at all after that so I decided that it was best for me to move on.
I already how much has changed since we came back. What kind of relationship do you have with her? Yuri overheard Kanade and also became curious.
Can you explain Otonashi? Yuri smiles in response. By the way, onii-chan never told me about you. Did you two meet in the afterlife and became friends there? I see that your own experience in death allows you to figure out that some of us are your onii-chan's friends, is that right? When he first came here he lost all of his memories, but with our help, he was able to gain them back. Hopefully, they will all get along after that. After all, onii-chan isn't a bad person. Otonashi, in the meantime, tries to explain to Kanade about how he moved on in an attempt to remedy the possible ill feelings she might have towards his relationship with Iwasawa.
Much to his surprise, however, Kanade not only took it well, but also wishes them the best of luck. Everyone has got to start off from somewhere. I can already see that you are able to and I am happy about that.
